Modernization was introduced in the library in early 1950's with the provision of reprographic services. Other equipments such as electronic typewriter, calculating machine and fumigation chambers were added to the library gradually.

A small conservation lab is attached with the rare collection for fumigation, deacidification, lamination and binding. This is to be modernized with latest equipments. Fumigation chamber with latest techniques and lmpregnator (lamination machine) are on the list of purchase. Cutting and tooling machines are also to be acquired for quality binding.

In late 1980's four computers (one PC/AT 286, three PC/XTs) and a laser printer were purchased with Urdu, Hindi and English softwares for DTP to speed up the work and also to create a database of accessioning record of printed material in order to check the duplication of books.

To computerize the entire library stock and provide online service, a major project was prepared in consultation with National Informatics Centre (NIC), Delhi and Patna and submitted to the Department of Culture for approval. With the generous grant from DOC Computer Centre was set up last year. This was the major event the library has witnessed before the close of the century. It was equipped with Pentium II (13 pieces), colour DeskJet printers, scanner and digital camera. LAN and e-mail facility with lnternet connectivity has also been provided. Digitisation of Descriptive Catalogue of Manuscripts has been started. CDs of Catalogue will be hooked up with lnternet as and when ready for global dissemination. Digitisation of manuscripts will be taken up afterwards.
