To pay homage to this great soul devoted to human cause and commemorate his remarkable contribution to the public an Annual Award was instituted in his name in 1992. It carries Rs.1,00,000 and a citation. It is conferred by the President of India upon the scholars for their life-time achievements in the fields specified by the library. Three awards have been given away to Dr. B. N. Pande, Dr. Anwar Jamal Kidwai and Mrs. Subhadra Joshi for their contributions in promoting communal harmony and national integration.
